Wouldn’t it be marvelous to live a completely fear-free life?

God desires for us to do it! And we can do it by purposely developing and exercising our faith in His love.

Notice I said developing faith—not feelings. Far too many Christians have been dominated by their feelings in this area. They’ll say, “You know, I just don’t feel like God loves me right now.” Some people will even tell their children, “Now, baby, Jesus won’t love you anymore if you keep doing bad things.”

That’s the biggest lie that ever came out of hell! God can’t keep from loving you. He is love. He has commanded us to love and He doesn’t violate His own commands. There isn’t anything you or anybody else can do to cause God to stop loving you. You can get into sin and get out of fellowship with Him, but He still loves you. God loves you when you feel it…and when you don’t.

He loves you all the time.

The glory of God was placed in you when you were born again. Second Corinthians 4:7 says, “We have this treasure [glory] in earthen vessels….” God wants to bring it to the surface, so it can be revealed to the world. As we pursue God’s Word and yield to His Spirit, walking in the Spirit will become a way of life to us. We will get to the place where His glory will continually be revealed in us. Walking with Him will become as natural for us as breathing. And that is the very thing the heart of God has desired for so long.

You have the Spirit of God within you. Jesus is your Lord. Walk with the Lord. Obey His voice. Prepare your heart. Feed upon His Word. Listen to the Spirit of God as He speaks to your spirit. As you do, your mind will be changed to think in line with what God thinks. You will accept the great and mighty move of the Spirit of God as it comes in our day.

You will allow God to flow out of you in a supernatural way. The changing of your mind will allow the Spirit of God to take dominion in your life. You will flow in the supernatural as easily as a bird flies in the air, as naturally as a fish swims in water, as simply as you breathe air. Do you think about breathing? No, you just breathe naturally. In the same way, you will not be conscious of your faith or the power of God at work within you. The supernatural will become the natural way of life for you. It will not seem far out to you as you walk in the Spirit. It will not be unnatural when signs and wonders start happening in your midst. You will be more conscious of what is going on inside you. You will be more conscious of the flow of the Spirit of God as He manifests Himself. You cannot push a button and cause Him to be manifested, but you can walk with Him on a day-to-day basis. That is your part.

God does the changing. He changes your mind so that the supernatural is a natural way of life to you. He gives you a part to play and that part is your responsibility. The rest is up to Him. You pray and study the Word and obey. He will change you from one degree of glory to another by His Spirit.

God has made us a special people, formed for Himself. We take His Word and put it into our lives. We obey regardless of tradition or what man thinks. We are a people who care more for what God thinks, than for what man thinks. We deeply desire to please God and to come into His complete will for our lives. We dare to believe God. When we hear His voice, we harden not our hearts. We are quick to obey. We walk after His Spirit.

WHAT A GLORIOUS CHURCH!

How are we going to be transformed? We will be transformed by the Spirit of God when we renew our minds. And our minds are renewed by the Word of God.

We can’t transform ourselves. God is the only One Who can transform us. In fact, we can’t even really change ourselves in a lasting way that will cause us to be transformed into His likeness. If that is true, then how can we change? What can we do to be transformed into His likeness?

This is an area where so many believers have felt frustration and failure. How many times have I heard Christians say, with sincere tears, “I’ve tried so hard to change but I just can’t seem to do it. I go along pretty good for a while, doing what I should, but something inside isn’t any different. And eventually I end up no better off than I was before. Where am I missing it?”

You don’t change yourself by human power. You just commit to the Word, come into agreement with that Word, act on the Word and the Spirit of God will change you. When you commit yourself to hear and to obey the Word of God, the power of God through His Word will change you. Your desires will change; you will begin to desire what God wills. The glory of God revealed in you through His Word will absolutely transform you.

Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 3:18 again. I particularly like the wording in The Amplified Bible:

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

When you stop struggling to transform yourself by your own fleshly efforts and just commit yourself to God’s Word, through the process of time you’ll look up one day down the road and discover that you’re different. You’ll discover that your way of thinking has changed and worldly habits of the flesh have fallen away. Mortifying the flesh won’t be the struggle it once seemed when you yield to the transforming power of His Word. The Apostle Paul said:

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Romans 8:18).

Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 3:18 in Wuest:

Now, as for us, we all, with uncovered face, reflecting as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are having our outward expressions changed into the same image from one degree of glory to another according as this change of expression proceeds from the Lord, the Spirit, this outward expression coming from and being truly representative of our Lord.

As we look into the glory of God, live unto Him and have our souls renewed to allow that glory to change us on the outside, our outward expression will be changed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. It is a process that we are going through.

We must allow God to be God over our entire being—spirit, soul and body. Yield yourselves fully to the Holy Spirit. Live your life for God. Do what He tells you to do, whether you feel like it or not. Cause your will to be conformed to His Word. When you come to that place, the glory of God will be manifested in you. You will be yielded to the Holy Spirit. The things of God are not hard. You just have to know how He thinks and then flow with Him. You cannot do it on your own.

In Matthew 17 Jesus took Peter, James and John to the Mount of Transfiguration. Verse 2 in Wuest says:

And the manner of His outward expression was changed before them, that expression coming from and being representative of His inner being. And His face took on a different appearance so that it shone like the sun, and His outer garments became white like its light.

What happened to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration? The glory of God was revealed in Him. That which was inside Him began to show on the outside. It was not dropped upon Him from heaven. It came from inside Him. His outward expression changed to display His innermost being. The glory of God radiated through His body and through His clothing until He shone like the light of the sun.

We are being changed from glory to glory, from one degree of glory to another. As we allow the inner man to come into dominion over the outer man, the new creature in Christ Jesus will take over the life of the outer man. The outward expression will be changed. As Romans 12:2 tells us, “Don’t be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Did you ever notice how easy it is to control your thoughts when you are in a Believers’ Convention or in church? That’s because in a spiritual atmosphere of the Word and praise and worship, your spirit becomes the dominating force. If you will gauge your whole life around spiritual activities, your inner man can be in control all the time. Galatians 5:16 says that if you walk in the spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. You see, you can’t do two things at once. If you’re walking in the spirit, your flesh has to come in line.

You will change what you think as you look to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Keep your mind and heart fixed on the Word—on Jesus. He is the only One who can help you overcome. The Word is spirit and it is life. When your mind is totally saturated with the Word of God, your spirit will exercise its authority to overcome every ungodly thought and evil habit.

A few years ago someone said to me, “Boy, Brother Copeland, you sure have lost a lot of weight!” I said, “No, I didn’t. I stopped lasciviousness from operating in my life, and the weight took care of itself.” I took my attention off myself and got it on Jesus.

Your victory will come in the same way. As you live in harmony with Jesus, you’ll turn your back on the lusts of the flesh. So, if sin has got you in a stronghold, break loose by getting your mind off yourself and looking to Jesus! You can’t do two things at the same time. If you turn toward Him, you’ll leave that sin behind you!

But you must be determined to fulfill God’s Word at any price. Don’t compromise. Boldly believe and act on the Word, and your flesh will submit to the control of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t let Satan deceive you into sacrificing the glory of God in your life for a few moments of self-indulgence and sin. Restrain your thought life! Meditate the Word instead of selfish, carnal thoughts! Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. He’s given you the power to be forever free!

Praise God. Praise Him in the morning. Praise Him at noon. Praise Him at night. If you’ve never praised God in your life, then get started right now. Praise Him for freedom. Praise Him for healing and Calvary. Praise Him for the Name of Jesus.

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised. – Psalm 113:3

You ought to be shouting your way to work and shouting your way back home! If there’s anything the devil can’t stand, it’s praise.

If you’ve taken territory from the devil and he’s coming against you to get it back, this is not the time to sit down and whine about how things aren’t working out. It’s not time to decide that God has taken His hand off your life.

It IS time to get into the Word and get yourself reanchored in God’s promises. It is time to keep that promise constantly before your eyes and in your heart. It is time to pray the prayer of faith and take your stand on the basis of His provision. It is time to continue to do the things you know to do.

When Satan starts shaking your mountain, don’t retreat and run for cover. Speak to the mountain with the authority you wield in the Name of Jesus Christ. Then, when you’re done with that, start to praise and shout the victory.

You don’t have to be afraid of Satan. He’ll be afraid of you!

He that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him…. I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. – John 8:26, 28

Just about everything I know, I learned from copying someone else. Take skiing, for example. Gloria and I love to ski. We had a good ski instructor. He did everything right. He always looked so great coming down the mountain.

I learned to ski by imitating him. I kept listening to everything he told me to do and then I went out there and did it. It worked! I didn’t look as smooth as he looked, of course, but I skied.

I didn’t try to ski. I skied. At first I only went about six feet down the slope, but I skied.

Every year I ski a little better. Every year I’m able to apply a little more of what that instructor taught me. Could someone accuse me of copying that ski instructor? Of course, they could! That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m trying to imitate him. I’m doing everything I possibly can to look just like him. Why? Because he’s a better skier than I am!

There was a fellow once who was criticizing me. “That Copeland just runs around acting like a little Jesus,” he said. He didn’t realize it, but as far as I’m concerned, that’s the highest compliment any man could pay me. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do!

Jesus told me to do it. He said, “As my Father hath taught me, I speak….” In other words, “I’m standing here copying the Father. Now you copy Me.”

Religion will try to convince you to say, “Oh, I could never be like Jesus! I’m too unworthy to ever act like Him.”

Who will you act like then?

Know this: You will act like someone. You’ll copy what you see on television or what you read in magazines or what you hear from the world—or you’ll copy Jesus.

The question is, which will you choose? If you choose to be like Jesus, you’ll discipline your words by saying what He says. You’ll discipline your actions by doing what He does. The more skilled you become with that discipline, the more you’ll live in the dimension Jesus enjoyed.

So don’t let religion or other wrong ideas hold you back. He’s the best teacher and example you’ll ever know. Copy Him!

I have received many letters from parents who ask about raising children according to the Word of God. Gloria and I have searched the Word for scriptural foundation in this area, and I want to share some of these things with you.

First of all, Galatians 3:13-14 says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

This is a very familiar scripture to most believers. It is a foundational truth in our lives. We have been redeemed from everything under the curse of the law. We don’t have to put up with it! There has been much teaching about our redemption from sin, from sickness and disease, from poverty, but not much teaching about the part of the curse that has to do with our children. That is what I want to focus attention on here.

The curse of the law, stated in Deuteronomy 28, mentions children in two verses: Verse 32 says, “Thy sons and they daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.” Verse 41 says, “Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.”

This is the testimony of many parents today. They watch helplessly as their children are taken captive by the world—drugs, alcohol, perversion and so forth.

As believers, we can use our authority and stand against these forces. According to Galatians 3:13, Jesus has broken the power of the curse, so we have the right to order Satan out of our children’s lives.

Like most parents, Gloria and I had to deal with the problems of rebellion in our children. We realized that it had to be stopped quickly before it developed into a serious situation. Don’t be guilty of ignoring symptoms of rebellion when your children are small. Don’t simply excuse it as a stage they are going through and think that they will grow out of it. If you ignore it when they are small, you won’t be able to handle it when they get older and the rebellion has had time to develop into a strong force.

When we saw this occurring, we immediately went to the Word. Gloria spent much time searching for scriptures we could use to combat these forces. Then we came together and confessed these scriptures before God. We took authority in the spirit world and refused to give Satan any room to operate. This is our responsibility as Christian parents. A child does not understand the spiritual forces coming against him, so it is up to the parents to fight the spiritual battles and keep Satan out of the child’s life.

This is what we did. We used the Word and exercised our authority over rebellion at work, but we didn’t stop there. We took every opportunity to minister love to the children. Whenever they came around us, we would express our love in some way. It didn’t take long for them to begin responding to that love. Don’t hesitate to show love to your children. They will respond to it.

It wasn’t always easy. There were times when we wanted to break down and cry or lose our temper or do something in the natural, but we would remember Jeremiah 31:16-17, “Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they [your children] shall come again from the land of the enemy. And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own border.”

My own mother cried over me for 15 years. Then one morning she threw her Bible on the kitchen table and said, “Lord, I’ve cried over him for the last time. I’m turning him over to You. If You can do anything with him, do it. I’m through!” In less than a month from that day, I was saved!

Mothers, take God’s Word for it. Receive Jeremiah 31:16-17 for yourself. Stop weeping for your children and start believing the Word. That’s the only thing that will bring them around.

Fathers, I am speaking to you too! It’s time for the fathers to get involved in the spiritual activities of their families. For too long, the women have carried more than their share of family responsibility. Husbands and fathers, get on your knees before God and accept your place as head of your household. You are the prophet from God to your family. This is not a lightweight thing; it takes a commitment on your part to fulfill your responsibilities. Get yourself straight before God, then see to your children. If necessary, go to your kids and ask their forgiveness for neglecting them. I have had to learn these things the hard way, and I know what I am talking about.

II Peter 2:9 says that God knows how to deliver. He knows how to do it, so give Him the opportunity. It doesn’t matter where your children are—in the room or a thousand miles away. You don’t have to be in their presence to take authority over Satan.
